Patterns and Christmas

by | Dec 15, 2013

Often during this busy season, we forget what and why we are celebrating!
Christmas is when we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus. It is important that we pass down to our next generation the “patterns” taught in the Bible, and this “pattern” of celebrating the birth of Christ is a crucial piece of  the patterns of our lives!
A pattern is “a model or design used as a guide,”  or “a set of instructions to be followed,” or (my favorite…) “an excellent example for others to follow.”  What better example to follow than the example of our loving Savior, Jesus Christ?
Just as we use patterns (templates, sets of instructions, guides and examples) when we create quilts or garments, every one of us uses patterns in our everyday lives…patterns passed down from our parents and grandparents, teachers, bosses, and so on.Let’s be sure the patterns we are producing are “excellent examples for others to follow!”
Take a moment during this holiday season and read the Christmas story from Luke Chapter 2 to your family…or to yourself!  It is a beautiful reminder of what God provided for us in His Son, Jesus!
I am so very thankful for the mercy the Lord had upon me when He saved me 25 years ago! He showed that “Pattern of Long-suffering” to me and gave me eternal life as seen in 1 Timothy 1:16.
1 Timothy 1:16
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
