I Dream of Florida!

by | Feb 27, 2015

Old Man Winter doesn’t seem to want to let up anytime soon!  I am disgusted with the snow and the bitter cold…however, there are a couple things that help me forget about the Illinois cold… One is to remember our wonderful trip to Florida back in November. Scott had a business trip in Orlando and I was able to go along so we could enjoy a weekend together before his Conference. I enjoy looking at the photos of the sun and the beach. I even recorded the sounds of the beach and get to listen to that video over and over!  Ahh!  To hear those Seagulls! And, you can almost “hear” the sun beaming down on the beach!

Another way for me to forget the bitter cold is to head downstairs to my sewing room!  When I start creating with fabric, I can bear whatever is happening outside!

Here’s a sampling of a fast, simple project I’m working on currently… a Table Runner and matching Napkins.

This fabric has been hanging around for a few years!  I made valances for both my living room and dining room from this fabric years ago, and finally got around to the matching table runner and napkins!

The table runner was made using the Tumbling Block template. Using these templates is a fast way to cut out tumbling blocks from 5″ strips of fabric. Then just stitch up the project in no time at all.

If you head over to the “Patterns & Designs” tab on my website, I will be placing a tutorial on how to make fast and easy napkins on there. Check it out and let me know if you make some and how they turned out!

Be sure to spend some time in your sewing rooms so you can forget (at least for a little while!) that the winter winds and snows are still upon us!
