The Three Bears!

by | Mar 19, 2017

The last month or so I have been working on “The Three Bears!”  This three-some is finally finished.  A customer of mine asked me to create the three Memory Bears from her father’s ties which she had saved after her father passed away.

To create each bear I first had to dissect the ties and press them.   I then cut out the Bear body patterns from muslin. I used the “foundation piecing” method to sew the ties fabrics onto the muslin body (front & back), paws, and his ears. I used red, gray and light brown corduroy fabrics for the rest of the bear body parts.

Lastly, I cut out the hat (top and sides) from muslin and, again, used the “foundation piecing” method to piece the tie fabrics onto those patterns, and the corresponding red, gray or light brown fabric for the brim of each hat.  I used the smaller ends of ties to create the neck-piece for each bear.

They turned out very nicely and will be delivered to their owners this week!
