Drunkards Path Quilt Pattern - Christmas

Christmas Drunkards Path Quilt

This Christmas I enjoyed creating a Drunkards Path Quilt pattern that was just perfect for the wall in my foyer!

Christmas Traditions

Does your family celebrate Christmas with wonderful traditions that have been passed down through generations?  One tradition that many families enjoy is that of filling each family member’s stocking with treasures. Maybe on Christmas morning when you peek inside your Stocking you will find a Christmas ornament, or a pair of socks, …. or, Oh, NO! Not a piece of COALl!

As our children get older, it seems that Gift Cards from their favorite stores are the most popular small gift item to fill Christmas stockings ! Kids can hardly wait to spend those Gift Cards!

Christmas Drunkards Path Wall Quilt

Hanging between the Christmas Stockings in this photo is a Drunkards Path wall quilt that I recently finished. (These stockings are empty, by the way!  Maybe my husband will fill them with goodies for Christmas? This quilt is a variation of my Drunkards Path “Solomon’s Blue Ice” pattern found on my website: QuiltingWithLori Patterns and DesignsThe fabrics are all Christmas prints. Doesn’t it appear as if the inside squares of the Solomon;s Puzzle are “floating” on the quilt?  Kind of a neat effect!

The Drunkards Path wall hanging is smaller than the quilt rack. The rail extends beyond each edge of the quilt. To avoid this from happening, I simply removed two Christmas stockings from the fireplace and hung one on each side of the Drunkards Path quilt on the rail!  I like the result.

The Reason for the Season

The most important thing that our family does during the Christmas season is “Remember” what Christmas is truly all about. We celebrate the birth of God’s only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ (John 3:16), who gave us the precious Gift of Salvation (Romans 6:23b)

Jesus IS the Reason for this and every Season!  The Christmas Story is one to share with your family every year. Here is just a portion of that beautiful story from Luke Chapter 2…

Luke 2: 27-35

” And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, [27] To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.

[28] And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

[29] And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

[30] And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

[31] And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

[32] He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

[33] And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

[34] Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

[35] And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

May you and your family have a blessed Christmas this year!
