The DeKalb County Quilter’s Guild 2016 “Quilt & Fiber Arts Show” was a great success on October 1 & 2, 2016…with 200 entries in the Quilts & Fiber art exhibits, along with 22 vendors, a Boutique, workshops, lectures and demos.
Lorriaine Torrence, (Lorraine Torrence Designs) was our Guest Speaker. She gave 3 fabulous lectures; “Finding your Voice”, “Creative Clothing for Every Body”, and Design Principles for Quilters.” Lorraine is a wearable art-maker and quilt-maker living (recently) and working in Madison, WI. With a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Washington, she draws upon lessons in color, composition, line and space to create wearable and wall textile art using the quilt-maker’s techniques of piecing, applique and quilting. She has been teaching quilt-making since 1972, and currently travels throughout the United States and Canada, teaching for quilt guilds and at quilting conferences. She has published three books: Design Essentials:The Quilters’ Guide, Shifting Perspectives and Fearless Design for Every Quilter, (co-authored by Jean B. Mills).
