Feathered Star Quilt

by | Apr 15, 2019

This past week I’ve been working on a quilt that I designed called “Shooting Feathered Star!.”  I designed the quilt for our Sinnissippi Quilt Guild Show Contest. This year’s theme for the Quilt Show is “Out of this World.”

The fabrics I used for the quilt were all stash fabrics from a dear friend of mine, Betty Losselyong. She has recently moved to Montana and down-sized her fabric stash…most of which came to me!  Yeah!  What a blessing that was and what a blessing she is!

The quilt (pictured here) does NOT have its binding yet.  I will be making a Faux flange binding for the quilt… that is still in the works! The colors of these shooting stars are BRIGHT!  They can certainly be seen shooting across the sky!

I did a lot of ruler work on the long-arm as I quilted the quilt. I also used a lot of Free Motion Quilting… Free Motion Quilting is kind of like using the long arm machine as my “pencil” as I “draw” across the quilt. It’s a lot of fun.

Below are a series of photos which show the progress of the quilt as I was working on it.

This evening I am creating the Faux Flange binding and will attach  it.  I will add more photos to show you the finished quilt once that is done.

Happy Quilting!   Lori
