Paducah Quilt Show & National Quilt Museum

UPDATE (Jun 3, 2019):  This past week I received the Video links from the Curator at the National Quilt Museum for 8 of the winners/finalists who were able to attend the “Meet and Greet” at the Museum in April. (There are 5 winners and 16 finalists who were selected for the Exhibit.)

The Google link is available here:  Hope you enjoy the videos as each gal discusses her interpretation of “The Oak Leaf & Reel” block for her own quilt design!

Just returned this past weekend from the annual Spring Quilt Show in Paducah.  The event is just amazing as it spreads out over convention centers and blocks and blocks of the downtown area of Paducah. It also incorporates the “Bubble” …a very large Bubble tent in which are hundreds of vendors! Definitely allow yourself a number of days to be able to see and experience everything! This year I was able to spend Thursday going through the quilt exhibits, the vendor areas and some of the great little ‘shops’ that pop up downtown during the Spring Paducah Show!

Then on Friday, the National Quilt Museum had a “Meet ‘n Greet” of the the artists who were winners and finalists in the 2019 New Block from an Old Favorite Contest. It was thrilling to see one of my quilts hanging on the walls of that Museum! The Staff of the Museum had created Books which included a 2-page spread for each of the 21 winners and finalists of the Contest. A photo of each of our quilts, along with the information about the quilt was written up in those books, which were available for purchase. Many people who came through the Museum went through the “meet ‘n greet’ line to have 9 of the artists from this contest sign their books.  It was fun to meet and talk to the folks who came through as well as to meet the gals who also had quilts in the contest.  I learned that our Quilts will travel with this Exhibit around the country for the next year and a half. I hope to see the exhibit in the Chicago and Madison area sometime soon!

If you were in Paducah, I hope you had a chance to see this exhibit as well as all the other wonderful exhibits in the Museum and at the Show. Here are just a few of the quilts to enjoy!
