My husband and I went to Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in February to see all the Bald Eagles along the Mississippi River. I found a great quilt shop there: The Picket Fence Quilt Shop. When I saw this purse pattern, I knew I had to have it! The outer purse is reversible so you can flip it around to match a different outfit! I plan to make a few of the outer sections so that my purse can match many different outfits that I wear!
Our American Sewing Guild Rockford Group had a challenge this summer. A member, Diane, embroidered the names of the Rockford group members onto a piece of batik fabric. We each had to make something using that piece of batik. I knew it would be perfect for my Versatile purse! Thank you, Diane, for embroidering my name on this beautiful piece of batik!!
This photo here shows the two sections of the purse. The taupe leather section with inside pockets will contain all my belongings, while the outer section can be buttoned on with either the batik fabric to the outside, or the silk dupioni fabric to the outside. The buttons on the inside purse hold the outside section securely; along with the fact that the straps which are connected to the outside section hold the weight of the purse! What a great idea! Women love being able to match their outfits and purses! At least, I do!
There is also a billfold pattern included in Susan’s Versatile Purse Pattern. I look forward to getting my billfold finished next!
Happy Quilting & Sewing!
