Blessings to you and your Family this Christmas Season!
As the year 2025 draws to a close, I have been pondering not only the year, but also the many years leading up to 2025! The Lord has truly blessed me and my family in so many ways that it’s hard to even begin to describe. Yes, there have been difficult times over the years. In fact, there have been some extremely difficult and heartbreaking times for us. However, the Lord has always been there for me and my family to lean upon and to draw strength and comfort during all those difficult times.
As many of you may know, I love to create quilt patterns based upon themes of the Bible or the experiences in my Christian walk. I also enjoy writing devotionals which present nuggets from God’s Word which have been a blessing and help to me. My “Woven in Time” quilt pattern is one of those quilt patterns.
Pastor Cavanaugh asked me to speak at the Ladies’ Session of the National Old Paths Conference this year which took place in late September, and I was honored to be able to do so. It was a bit nerve wracking speaking to the hundreds of women in the room, but through it, the Lord blessed me and others – as they expressed to me afterward.
While praying about what the Lord would have me share with the women at the Old Paths Conference, He placed upon my heart my “Woven in Time” pattern. The Lord impressed upon me to share my “journey of serving” for 30+ years of time in the ministry at our church. When I presented the subject to Pastor Cavanaugh, he readily agreed this would be a perfect topic to share with the women. Because I had served in the ministry as administrative/personal secretary to Pastor Gomez for 30+ years (prior to Dr. Gomez’s retirement in 2022), hundreds of those women in that room knew me, as well as where/how I’d served. [I find that it is easier to speak to a roomful of people that I don’t actually know intimately! Do you find this to be true?] Anyway, this devotional that I shared gave them an insight into that 30+ year-long journey in the ministry, which actually continues today. I am still volunteering as I help organize our retired Pastor Gomez’s speaking engagements around the country.
So, not only is there a pattern, “Woven in Time” (which you can find on my website), but there is also a devotional booklet (which is what I shared at the Conference). The Devotional booklet does include Woven in Time patterns at the end for a small wall quilt (30″ square) and a lap quilt pattern (56″ square) as well. The fabrics I used in this Woven in Time pattern are 2.5″ Christmas fabric strips from my stash.
The Woven in Time pattern is a quick and easy one and I do have a YouTube tutorial which takes you step-by-step through the process of making the quilt! Click here to watch it. Enjoy!
I learned that our church has put all the Old Paths sessions out on Vimeo which allows people to watch them who weren’t able to attend. If you are interested in hearing/watching my session, please click on the link below… it will take you out to the Vimeo site and my session…
I pray that the Lord blesses you and your family as you each have a very Merry Christmas and wonderful New Year!
P.S. I also want to remind you that if you are looking for a great way to bring in the New Year and get your quilting studio and STASH organized and ready to make beautiful quilts, please check out my New Year’s Day 3-hour Zoom workshop at the following link: HERE The link will share all the details about the class. I know many of you will enjoy that time together as we begin the New Year in a productive way!
Merry Christmas to each and every one of you. Thank you for your loyalty in following me on my website, YouTube and Facebook.
May the Lord bless you!
